Magento eCommerce SEO Case Study For Roofing Supplies
In this eCommerce SEO Case Study, we’ll reveal how a well-known construction materials supplier came to us with the goal of increasing revenue and sales. Their competition had spent a lot of money with brand new websites, huge comprehensive catalogues and strong Marketing campaigns.
In the first three months of an Organic eCommerce SEO campaign, we helped grow their revenue by 107.73% and pushed their conversion rate up to 3.01%. We also doubled their number of transactions. We know these results seem too good to be true, but in reality, they were achievable because our client had been treading water in the market and not utilising their website properly.
How we fixed Specific issues with the Magento Website
Part of the issue was that the client had not maintained a contract with the web developers who also managed the hosting of the website. This mattered because when the website was running into issues, there was never anyone on hand to fix the issues or even put a plan in place to prevent such issues from occurring in the first place.
Headings and Product names
The website had issues, but many of them were high-volume recurring issues such as poorly named products, long URLS or missing H2 tags in supporting content. We worked through the website fixing Pages, Categories and Product pages. We used financial data to target the best-performing ranges first.
Images renamed and relabelled
Many of the images were of poor quality. We organised with the client to improve the images and, where possible, replace the images. in addition, we worked with the client’s in-house staff to rename and relabel as many of the images as possible.
Product Descriptions Improved
A huge number of products had overly brief descriptions. It’s very common in the construction industry for clients to assume that their customers just know what the products are. They forget that search engines use the words on the page to understand the product; therefore, to provide greater clarity and context, product descriptions need to be as detailed as possible. We expanded the product descriptions and added FAQ sections where appropriate.
Product Video creation
We brought in a 3rd part videographer who could help the company create a video presence for some of its popular brands. These videos included how-tos and product guides. The client now has its own YouTube channel and has started posting on social media more often to reach its target market.
